Cyclone Yasi wasn’t about to stand in the way of suburban superhero Adam Cozzitorto.
The professional arborist and owner of Skilled Trees single-handedly removed dangerous debris from his neighbourhood in the wake of the damaging system.
Mr Cozzitorto was on hand to provide assistance to his fellow Buna Street residents.
His heroics were recognised recently during a Cyclone Yasi after-party thrown by neighbour Simone Low on Saturday.
Ms Low said his unwavering support deserved to be commended.
“Adam was out there clearing the road and helping out as soon as he possibly could,” she said. “He had trees down all over his yard as well but he was still determined to put the street first and make sure everyone else was safe.”
Mr Cozzitorto was showered with gifts from appreciative members of the tight-knit community on Saturday night.
Ms Low said the compassion was a lasting example of the importance of community spirit.
“I don’t think we see enough community spirit around these days so this is a wonderful example of how strong it can be,” she said.
